ICONSIAM Pier – Gateway to Bangkok’s riverside complex
ICONSIAM Pier Bangkok lies on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River, providing direct access to the ICONSIAM shopping and leisure complex and connecting visitors with boats from Sathorn Pier and other stops along the river
A Modern Pier Beside the Chao Phraya River
ICONSIAM Pier opened in 2018 together with the ICONSIAM complex, developed in cooperation with the Marine Department to link with major stops such as Sathorn Pier. It forms part of a modern network of piers that continue Bangkok’s long tradition of travel by water.
Arriving by Boat and Exploring the Riverside
Approaching ICONSIAM Pier by boat offers a clear view of the complex’s glass façade and riverside promenade. The pier connects directly to the main entrance through covered walkways leading into the building. Across several floors of the complex, cafés and restaurants offer river views, many with outdoor terraces overlooking the Chao Phraya. The lower floors include SookSiam, a large indoor market area with eateries serving regional dishes from across Thailand, while ICONLUX on the first and second floors presents international luxury brands and flagship boutiques. The observation deck on the seventh floor provides open views across Bangkok. After sunset, the illuminated fountain display along the promenade becomes a regular highlight visible from the river and upper-floor restaurants.
Getting There and Nearby Connections
ICONSIAM Pier Bangkok is served by frequent free shuttle boats from Sathorn Pier and by regular Chao Phraya Express Boat services during the day. Travellers arriving by rail can use Charoen Nakhon Station on the Gold Line, linked to the building by an elevated walkway. Regular Express Boat services end around sunset, while ICONSIAM’s own shuttle boats continue operating to Sathorn Pier until about 11 p.m. Facilities are clearly signposted and easy to navigate. For updated schedules and visitor information, see the official ICONSIAM website.
Role of ICONSIAM Pier in Modern Bangkok
ICONSIAM Pier represents how new river facilities have blended with long-established transport routes along the Chao Phraya. While large developments now shape parts of the riverside, the pier helps maintain public access to the river and continues Bangkok’s enduring connection with water-based travel.
